MATLAB: Do I receive an error when clicking the browse button during installation/activation to select the license file

MATLAB

When clicking on the browse button to point to my license file during installation/activation, I get an error. How can I point to my license file during installation/activation?

  • This error is related to a bug in Java. For more information, see Sun's bug report here:
This bug occurs when one of the Windows Explorer folders (User Shell Folders) is set to a location on a drive that does not exist on the machine. To resolve this issue, you will need to update the Windows registry so that that all the Windows Explorer folders are pointing to directories that exist on the machine. These folders are specified in the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
Once updated, if you restart the machine, you should be able to browse to the license file location.
As an alternate workaround, you can enter in the path to the license file manually without browsing.
